Sprouting Lentils: Day 1

I have decided to sprout some lentils for consumption by adding some to my salads.  If you have never sprouted lentils, you are in for a nice treat!  And if you have, you already know how easy it is and tasty the lentil sprouts are!  What do they taste like you ask?  Lentil sprouts have a wonderful earthy aroma and taste!  Here I show you an easy way to grow the sprouts.  I use the jar method.  Let's get started!

To begin, you will need:

1/4 cup dry lentil beans
1 quart jar with screw top, minus the lid
A piece of screen or cheese cloth big enough to cover the jar mouth
water

You may want to start this process around 6 or 7 o'clock in the evening. The entire process will take about 4 days.

Step 1:
Pour 1/4 cup of dry lentils in the jar

Step 2:
Fill the jar half full of cool water.

Step 3:
Place the cheese cloth over the mouth of the jar and screw the top onto the jar over the cheese cloth.

Step 4:
Set the jar on your counter and leave over night.  Soak the lentils in the water for 8 - 12 hours.

In the morning when you wake up, or at least 8 hours after you've put the water in the jar, pour the water out and rinse the lentils.  Empty the rinse water out, place the cheese cloth and screw top back on the jar and set it at a 45 degree angle so the excess water can drain.

I will post DAY 2 tomorrow!  :)

But since you're still here, let me share with you some of the wonderful things that are in RAW Lentil Sprouts.
